AUPL: Shaffiq Bisaso’s SC Villa abash Bright stars in eight goal thriller.

In the AUPL tie at Mandela National stadium, Namboole Sc Villa humiliation of Bright stars closes the gap to four points on log leaders KCCA FC, Shaffiq Bisaso’s Villa goes to 24 points as Mike Mutebi’s KCCA on 28 points at top.
In a game that started on a high speed each side pressing for an early goal the Kawempe based club got its first chance which it converted, with exciting winger Kokas Opejo well delivered cross headed home by usual suspect Fred Segujja to give the visitors the lead in the 7th minute.
Close in the 10th minute, Alex “ Benzema” Kittata almost equalized missing on a close opportunity, his effort going wide with a great build up by Eturude Abby and Godfrey Lwesibawa.
The critical talking point of the game, came in the 9th minute when substandard refereeing was evidenced when David Oula awarded a very controversial penalty on what he termed as a foul on Martin Kizza in the 18 yard area, in reality which was not genuine. Bright stars technical team and players will have the referee to blame for the first goal after defender Sulaiman Sebbuza attacking the ball first to go into a corner kick then Kizza who was dribbling the ball knocked his legs, surprisingly to many incompetent Oula awarding a penalty which young center half Paul Mbowa converted to level the score line in the 10th minute sending goal keeper Mbogi Wumalu on the opposite side.
The absence of Sc Villa star player and top scorer Vitallis Tabu, fellow cranes young star Martin Kizza who filled the void proved worth with a stunner in the 15th minute to give the Jogoos the lead.
Umaru Kasumba was unlucky to appear on the score sheet his effort hitting the cross bar off Lwesibawa long throw, Bright stars making vital clearances to keep their hopes of salvaging a point.
On the 20th minute mark Sheriff Batte linking up well with Fred Segujja in chase for an equalizer getting a couple of free kicks which Opejo made no use of sending one in SC Villa goalie Ashadu Bugembe’s hands and another wide over the bar.
Bright stars were un lucky to lose their influential captain in midfield Allan Robert in the 35th minute replaced by Martin Kivumbi who had started dominating midfield along with Innocent Asimwe and this proved a big blow to the stars conceding many other goals in the second half, referee Oula calling off the first staza at 2-1.
Earlier in the second half in the 47th minute Alex Benzema Kittata headed in a well calculated Martin Kizza cross making it 3- 1 on the day and his 5th in the AUPL just behind KCCA’s Geoffrey Serunkuma, Shaban Muhammad both at 7 and team mate Vitalis Tabu at 6 goals.
In absence of Villa captain and former Bright stars captain Bernard Muwanga, The day’s captain for Jogoo in Tadeo Lwanga registered his name on the score sheet with a simple tap in to put the game out of reach for the 7th placed Bright stars and this seemed not enough for the villa park based club when enterprising central midfielder Abel Eturude shot beating goalie Mbogi to find the back of the net to make it 5-1 in the 60th minute.
With a quarter of the game to play substitute Martin Kivumbi kept stars hopes of making a comeback high pulling another back in 64th minute to reduce the deficit to three making the score line 5-2.
Alex Kittata paved way for Boue Marc, Lwesibawa also withdrawn for Faustin Ndayisenge lately Veteran midfielder Mike Serumagga replacing Martin Kizza, on Serumagga introduction saw Eturude continue to shine in midfield with one – two touches creating for Kasumba shooting inches wide and on another in the 88th minute finding young left back Adriko his layup cleared by Mathias Waiswa. In the added minutes another star’s substitute Joshua Kawaddwa closed the high scoring on the day making it 5-3 final score.
