AUPL: Express resurrect against Maroons for Maiden league win.

Usual suspect Daniel ‘Mzee’ Serunkuma and David Ndihabwe strikes in either half guaranteed Express earn first long awaited league win in a relegation clash against Maroons having lost two against new comers Mbarara city and UPDF and with a single draw at home against Jinja SSS.

Maroons kicking off on a brighter note with their customary tic-tac football relishing more possession, was however hapless to concede in the 30th minute.

Serunkuma who had the first free kick attempt going just inches off the goal post, broke the deadlock with a long range loop shot beating goal keeper Akol.

William Wadri putting up an outstanding performance for the visitors was luckless to get the equalizer stirring Captain Buule with a delightful save.

Express kicked off the second half on high temple, subsequent to coach Bamweyana introduction of speed merchant Burungi and Sebadduka generating a couple of chances Serunkuma missing in the 69th and 71st.

Maroons star man Obuya who was on and off for the 55 minutes he played was withdrawn early in the second half creating some liberty for Express midfield players.

Late in the game with just 8 minutes of normal time to play, former MUK Captain, SCVU player David Ndihabwe killed off the game with a well struck header to put the game out of reach for Maroons.

Express childhood fan Brian White paid 100 dollars cash for each goal to Dan Serunkuma and Ndihabwe and 4.8m shillings to club Captain to boast the club financial status.

Bamweyana delighted with the first win denied allegations of fighting relegation.

“We are all happy for the first win, am new and many players are new we need to know each other more, and league football we are playing Marathon other teams will also loose and we are Express so we want to win the title. “

Counterpart Mwesigye however believes his side could do better and was unhappy with the result.

“Playing good football dominating possession and loose three points is disgusting, we haven’t scored but we shall go back do more training on specific areas and we shall pick up ourselves and we shall score with time. “
