The FUFA drum action returns this weekend with eight fixtures, four games to be played on Saturday and four on Sunday in different regions of Uganda.
Uganda Tourism board (UTB) has today Friday been unveiled as FUFA Drum official partners in the press conference held at FUFA house in Mengo.
John Ssempeebwa the deputy CEO Uganda Tourism Board believes the FUFA drum will be a good avenue to promote tourism.
So as Uganda Tourism Board, we believe The FUFA DRUM is an avenue for us to promote tourism with several people moving from one region to another. We saw how people from Acholi land moved to Kigezi to support their team, people from Karamoja made the trip to Ankole and this impressed us. We have therefore decided to commit 75 million shillings towards the tournament as a pilot project
In the Wednesday FUFA weekly press conference conducted by FUFA communications manager Ahmed Hussein, FUFA drum chairperson Rogers Byamukama highlighted the great work done by the media, referees and the good relationship between FUFA, the organizing committee and provinces cultural leaders.
I would first of all love to thank the media which we believe has done a lot to cover the drum as we try to celebrate our ancestry, the tournament has grown from paper to one of the biggest football events in the country. It’s very good that the cultural leaders have embraced it and we urge you the media to continue with the great work until the final bend.
Also I would like to thank the referees and the committee which appoints them for the great job so far. National team engagements won’t be stopping the Drum matches and we believe if these provinces are well organized they won’t be begging for any financial support , just like Karamajongs paid their first ever money to watch a football match.” he added
