The national netball team the She cranes was today flagged off to Zambia ahead of 2018 Africa netball championships that are scheduled to take place between 13 th- 18 th August. The she cranes have had a series of both residential and non residential training and have had enough time to prepare as they head into Africa’s biggest netball stage.
Head coach Rashid Mubiru speaking to the press “I’m confident that the team has had enough training practices, were this time round well funded and will put up a good performance..” Uganda is ranked 4 th and 7 th in Africa and the world respectively as per the latest International Netball Federation (INF) rankings.
The Africa netball championships double as the qualifiers for the 2019 Netball World Cup that will be held in Liverpool, England. Uganda will stand to battle for the remaining two slots for Africa as Malawi and South Africa qualify automatically by virtue of the INF rankings.
