- The semifinals of the 2018 National Basketball league playoffs best of 5 series kicked off yesterday as JKL Lady Dolphins outsmarted A1 Challenge 88-68 in Game 1.The game started at a high as the players were raining 3 pointers with the first quarter ending 24-17 in favor of JKL.
The second quarter was too slow as both teams came back with good defense. JKL Lady Dolphins scored only 16 points as A1 Challenge bagged in 10 points.The 3rd quarter became stiff with both teams dropping in so high,JKL Lady Dolphins winning 25 – 18 points. A1 Challenge tried to fight back in last quarter but both sides were tied to 23 points. Hope Akello was the lady of the day with a game high of 17 points and 16 rebounds in the game.
JKL Lady Dolphins’ scoring machine Nansikombi Jamila (played 40 minutes of the game), had 23 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. JKL Lady Dolphins’ Ritah Imanishimwe also found it not hard to hit double figures as she scored 16 points. A1 Challenge, Georgina Adhiambo had 18 Points and 6 rebounds.
Commenting about the game, JKL Lady Dolphins power forward Hope Akello said, “We played a good game though we did some rushing in the first quarter but we had to cool down and play our normal game…we did out rebound them both on defense and offense. We expect more as a team during game 2” she added.
The victory means JKL Lady Dolphins now lead 1-0 in the best of 5 series with game 2 action poised for Sunday 16 th September..The men’s game between Betway Power and JKL Dolphins was postponed due to a blackout at MTN Arena that halted the game with just 5 minutes into the first quarter .
