Betway Power got the best out of the eulogized 5 time champions City Oilers with a 85-66 win in the first game of series 7 at the Lugogo indoor stadium on Wednesday night , 0ctober 2018.
The tie started on a tight notch with both sides playing a pretty cautious game but Power were able to clinch the first quarter 17-9 .Joseph Ikong and Geofrey Soro tied at 6 points apiece.
Things could only get better for Betway power as they cruised further away from Oilers with Ikong and Soro hitting double figures(15 and 10 points) respectively. Oilers seemed to be getting things to the right tune as Jonathan Egau and Ben Komakech grabbed 7 and 8 points mid way the periods.
The third quarter produced quality offensive action as the Oilers tried to bridge their first half subpar performance. Power seemed to have opened an arguably unsurpassable 14 points lead but guard Josh Johnson kept his side in contention with 2 successive 3 pointers 2 minutes to stoppage time. The third quarter ended 60-68.
However, the fourth quarter produced no resistance for Betway Power as Mandy Juruni’s charges got suffocated at their quick transition game, fluffing easy baskets from open shots and three point ranges. Power created a 17 -6 points run that saw the game end 85-66.
Joseph Ikong scored game high 24 points, managing 5 assists and 3 rebounds with teammates Geofrey Soro bagging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and Paul Odong (12 ponts, 4 rebounds, 1 assist). On the other, Jimmy Enabu, Josh Johson put in 15 to 13 points respectively. Action returns on Friday, 5 th October in the second tie of series 7.
