Holders Buganda Province has been drawn against fellow giants Ankole in group B along with Lango and Sebei in the FUFA Drum draws conducted at Jevine hotel in Kampala on Tuesday morning.
Anticipated group of death A, will see Busoga, Kampala, Tooro and Rwenzori fight for the two top spots to make it to the quarters.
Last year’s semi finalist were seeded in pot A, and the quarter finalists were seeded in pot B.
In the last edition review, FUFA Drum Chairperson Rogers Byamukama confirmed some of last year’s debts will be paid as soon as funds are availed to FUFA.
Its unfortunate that we are here talking about the new season before paying some of last year’s debts but i can confirm, we have not paid but we are going to pay as soon as the we get the money and as well I can tell you even the match officials are not yet paid.
FUFA vice president Justus Mugisha in his remarks, applauded the organising committee for the good work and apologised on behalf of FUFA for the delay in payment.
I thank the chairman of the drum for the work well-done, being the first time with a lot challenges, they went ahead to organise the tournament up to the final.As well we thank the Secretariat foe the good work. The Drum is one of the best innovation by FUFA.We tas well thank the provinces for welcoming our idea and to make it a reality, and on behalf of FUFA I would apologise that our cash flow din’t move like we had planned but am sure payments will be done. We expect a lot from this edition and we expect the provinces to generate more revenues to sustain their teams.
Buganda province will target defending the title after being crowned champions of the first ever edition of the FUFA Drum when they defeated West Nile (2-1) on aggregate in a two legged final.
FUFA President Engineer Moses Magogo in the closing remarks, thanked the central government, local leaders, members of parliament and other individuals for the support to the Drum first edition.
I would love to thank every one who made a contribution in the first edition, most especially the local leaders, honourable members of parliament that attended. And as well, we thank Government for the support.We know we havent paid the prize money because we havent received the funding but I guarantee before kick off on 29th, everybody will be paid. We thank the premier league clubs that allowed the players to play in the drum last season and i guarantee all the players and officials will be insuredbtjis season as we anticipate a better season this time. Its our game , its our country. Thank you so much.
The FUFA drum second edition will kick off with match day 1 fixtures on 29th-31st March with eight games.
