JIPRA Stripped off Copa slot over machinery

Following a petition lodged by Agape Senior Secondary School from Namutumba District, they will take the place of Jinja Progressive Academy(JIPRA) in the Copa Cocacola tournament slated for May 6th– 18, at Jinja College.

The decision was affirmed at the National Council of Sports (NCS) headquarters in Lugogo, Kampala on Friday, 26 April 2019.

The petition filed by Agape S.S against JIPRA accused the latter for fielding a player, Frank Mulimi.

He had earlier completed his Primary education in 2013 but allegedly re-sat the Primary Leaving Examinations in 2015 under a different identity as Abbey Mukose at Nawankonge Primary School.

The same player is captured in the FUFA Connect players’ system and he bears a license for Magamaga Young Football Club, but, as Erisa Mugadi with a date of birth as 3rd September 1997.

With the evidence presented, therefore, Jinja Progress Academy was found guilty thus   were disqualified and banned for one year.

Therefore, Agape S.S who had lost to JIPRA 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the Busoga region qualifiers joins the hosts Jinja College, Jinja S.S, Iganga Parents and Busoga College Mwiri as the five representatives for the hosting region.

Eight football grounds within Jinja Municipality will be used to host the games.
