Jinja Progressive (JIPRA), St Mary’s Kitende, Jinja SSS, Buddo made no mistake and eliminated Kibuli, St Kaggwa, St Julian, Uganda Martyrs respectively in the round of 16 fixtures played on Wednesday to book Quarter final tickets.
JIPRA edged Kibuli SSS 6-5 in dramatic spot kicks after a 2-2 all draw in normal time. JIPRA came two goals from down to level the score line with just five minutes left
Else where, Villa forward Charles Lwanga opened the scoring for SMASK in the 28th minute and shortly Jacob Okao doubled the lead in the 34th minute with the first penalty. Abdul Karim Watambala found the third in the 67th minute and Bobosi Byaruhanga scored from the second penalty spot to put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute.
Earlier in the game, Richard Basangwa and Stephen Serwadda had missed St Mary’s Kitende (SMASK)’ s quick opportunities before Lwanga found the opener in the 34th minute.
Earlier in the morning, holders Buddo eliminated Uganda Martyrs with a two goal score line both scored by Joseph Kafumbe.
And Masaka was eliminated by Bulo 4-3 in Spot kicks after a goalless draw in normal time.
In the other 4pm fixture, Isma Mugulusi first half and Lawrence Tezikya second half goals helped Jinja SSS eject St Julian.
Tournament surprise team St Henry college Kitovu (SHACK) edged St John high school from Mukono at 2pm to join Royal Giants, SMASK, Bulo parents and Buddo SSS.
Lawrence Tezikya of Jinja SSS lead the top scorer’s chart.
The quarter finals draws will be held today Wednesday at night at Jinja College.
