Copa Coca Cola 2019 Quarter final results
Standard High School and Jinja SSS defeated Royal Giant and Bulo parents respectively to complete the four teams that will play in the 2019 Copa semi finals.
Standard High School made the cut as the third team from Wakiso to make it to the semis joining holders Buddo and St Mary’s Kitende. Aaron Okwi headed in late on the 88th minute mark for the Entebbe road boys.
STAHIZA head coach Joachim Mukungu after eliminating a less known Royal giants, showed no worry of meeting fellow Wakiso district counterparts.
We know we are a weak team so we work hard, and whenever we meet with Buddo and Kitende its always a derby but we are not scared of meeting any in the semis. Our strength is in team work and our aim this year s to win the title because we are thirsty for it being we have never won it.
Jinja SSS edged a resilient Bulo side (3-1) in Spot kicks after a goalless draw in normal time. Ismail Mugulusi, Edrine Opaara and Samuel Baliluno all converted their kicks and only Faizo Wabyona scored his for Bulo but Peter Abulinya, Shaffic Kibirige and Taban Wijo missed theirs.
Ismail Mugulusi, danger man Lawrence Tezikya and Hussein Sajjabbi missed on Jinja SSS’ first half chances.
Bulo Parents goal keeper Michael Lutaaya kept his side in the game with a couple of first half and second half saves.
Tezikya missed Jinja’s clear chance and Taban Wijo got Bulo’s golden second half chance but failed to find target.
Earlier on, Emmanuel Looki brace helped Buddo SSS eliminate one of the Jinja schools JIPRA in the 9am fixture and St Mary’s Secondary School ejected St Henry’s College Kitovu in the second fixture at 11am. Charles Lwanga and Richard Basangwa scored in either half for SMASK.
The semi final draws are to be held at 6pm today Thursday and the games will be played tomorrow at Kakindu.
