The Uganda tennis team will compete at the 2019 Davis Cup which will be hosted by Congo Brazzaville.
Uganda who are in group four of the Africa pool will soon kick start preparations for the week long tournament scheduled to start on 15 th July.
Team Uganda will be represented by a blend of experienced and youthful players led by captain John Oduke,two thousand three hundred fourteen (2314) world seed Borris Aguma,18 year old Frank Tayebwa,David Oringa and Simon Oyella.
A total of 18 teams will compete at the international tennis tournament with 7 African sides and 11 countries across other continents.
Botswana,Cameroon,Congo,Gabon,Ghana,Rwanda and Uganda will represent Africa while the other continents being led by defending champions Croatia who beat France at last year’s event and England who have won the tournament for a record 32 times.
The format of the tournament was modified and a series between the teams will feature two singles matches and one doubles match instead of the best of 5 series with the matches changing from best of 5 sets to best of three.
Only the top teams and the two best second placed shall progress to the quarterfinals from the 6 round-robin groups at the tournament that will mark the 108th edition.
