Beach Soccer: Reigning Champions Isabeti Beat MUBS & Talented to Keep Title Defence Hopes Alive

Uganda National Beach Soccer league defending champions Isabeti Bsc beat Talented and Makerere University Business school 5-2 and 6-4 respectively to keep their title defence hopes alive closing the gap to four points between them and log leaders SLAU.

Sc Villa midfielder David Owori’s return in Isabeti’s squad was substantial scoring a brace in both games.

Adding on Owori’s double, Swaibu Kakwaya also bagged a brace and team captain Roch Somoka completed the striking in the first game against struggling Talented.

Ndejje University FC ‘s left ‘soft’ footed defender Hamim Semakula rose up to the big occasion in a 6-4 win against record winners MUBS with a brace, Owori with a brace as well, then Rica Byaruhanga and Swaibu Kakwaya put the icing on the cake to make it six.

When contacted on phone, Isabeti Bsc head coach Isa Asiimwe was happy with the boy’s spirit on the pitch to get the two crucial wins.

We have not lost hope, we belive we can still defend it, am so happy with the spirit and fight the boy’s have put up, let’s keep pushing no body knows. The absence of Owori, Hamim Semakula, John Revita and Allan Kayiwa has cost us so much all of them having been so busy with their Uganda Premier league clubs but we are happy to welcome back Owori and as well waiting for the rest. Asiimwe told Sports256

After Buganda Royal loosing 6-0 to MUBS, Isabeti Bsc ascended to second position with 38 points from 17 games four behind SLAU with 42 from 17 games as well.

In the other game, Vipers SC’s Brian Nkuubi and Sand Cranes defender Sulaiman Ocwero  scored five between themselves as log leaders SLAU humiliate Mutoola 6-1.

As well, the race for the golden boot is tight between former Sand Cranes captain Roch Somoka with 32 goals and Mutoola’s Hebert Luboyera leading the chart with 33. Isabeti captain won the boot last year.
