Uganda Cranes midfielder and Uganda Premier league most valuable asset Moses Waiswa will not take part in the forthcoming Africa Cup of nations close in two weeks in Egypt due to knee injury.
The Vipers SC artistic midfielder was essential in the French man Sebastien Desabre’s qualification campaign and was expected to be among the young stars to watch in the finals.
The 22 year old impressed Desabre on his debut in the qualification campaign and has been a main stay in his starting XI.
According to Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) communications manager Ahmed Hussein, Waiswa will travel back to Uganda for further treatment
The technical team has confirmed the player will not take any part further in the camp in Abu Dhabi following medical assessments of the injury. Plans are underway to organise his travel back home for further treatment and recovery of the injury. It is a pity for the young man who had a dream to feature at the Continnet’s biggest soccer show piece. We wish him a quick recovery’ Hussein told FUFA.co.ug.
Ethiopia based creative midfielder Yassar Mugerwa and Uganda Premier league top scorer Juma Balinya are potential candidates to replace the injured Waiswa.
Out of the 26 players in Abhu Dhabi Camp, head coach Sebastien Desabre will name the final 23 man squad that will represent Uganda in the second consecutive AFCON after 38 years.
