Uganda’s stay in Egypt at their 7th AFCON appearance may have eventually faced its first shade of blood but still remains on a positive course after booking a historical second time knockout stage slot.
The Cranes dated The Pharaohs in what is becoming a familiar fixture particularly in the past couple of years. But the results have always tended more positive for Egypt.
And so was the case at the Cairo Stadium as Egypt sealed a top finish position in a frightful 2-0 win group A tie thanks to first half goals from Mohammed Salah and captain El-Mohammedy.
The seven time African champions stride on to the next round with a perfect record – three wins from three matches and no goals conceded – and they will be joined by Uganda(4 points),who had a decent game despite looking blunt in the final third.
Likewise,The Pharaohs and The Cranes may be joined in the next round by DR Congo, who found form at last and crushed Zimbabwe 4-0.
