NKumba University Volleyball Club ladies are back to back Genocide Memorial Tournament champions after defeating Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-0.
The Ugandan side showed their dominance having successfully won all their group matches humbling KVC 3-0, Ruhango 3-0 and UTB 3-1. Nkumba went on to put up a great performance against Rwanda’s APR winning 3-1 to book a slot in the finals.
The tournament saw Nkumba’s Flavia Nandawula emerge as the best libero while teammate Nnungi Sayder Kawere was voted the best blocker and Grace Akiror the Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
The team that recently won the Aporu Okol Memorial Volleyball Tournament will now shift focus onto the National Volleyball League in a bid to bolster their chances of retaining the title as well.
Nkumba ladies together with KAVC, KCCA and Espoir represented Uganda’s women teams while Nkumba men, Nemostars, KCCA, KAVC and Sport-S took part in this year’s campaign in the Men’s category.
