CHAN 2020 Qualifier: Okello named in Uganda Cranes Squad to Face Somalia

CHAN 2020 Qualifier: 27th July 2019 (1st leg)

  • Somalia Vs Uganda in Djibouti at Al Haji Hussein Guled Stadium, 6pm 

3rd August 2019 (2nd leg)

  • Uganda Vs Somalia at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo 4pm. 

After being left out of the Uganda Cranes AFCON Squad by former coach Sebastien Desabre, a decision that left many Ugandans in shock, KCCA FC star man Allan Okello has been named by Uganda Cranes Head coach of the local based team Abdallah Mubiru in the final 18 man Squad that will face Somalia in the CHAN Qualifier first leg match in Djibouti.

Okello who has just retuned from Kigali, Rwanda succesfully guiding his club to CECAFA Kagame Cup championship, will be a key face in this team of local based players against a minnow Somalia

Goal keeper Charles Lukwago, Defenders Dennis Timothy Awany, Kizza Mustafa, midfielders Sadam Juma, Mutyaba Muzamiru and forwards Allan Kyambadde and Henry Kaddu are other members named from the Lugogo based club

The team comprised of 2 goal keepers, 6 defenders, 6 midfielders and 3 forwards will fly out of the country on Thursday morning for the trip to Djibouti ahead of the CHAN 2020 qualifier match

According to FUFA official website, the 31 man contingent will have FUFA Executive Committee Member Kalyebara David Mukidi as the Leader of Delegation while National teams’ Officer Paul Mukatabala travelled in advance on Wednesday morning to plan for the team’s arrival.
