Ugandan forward Pius ‘Mzee’ Wangi has become a darling at the club and to the league fans for his scoring rate, speed and agility since he completed the move to Sunrise after an impressive half season with SC Villa.

The former Vipers and Sc Villa forward has scored four goals & managed one assist in 5 games played so far.

Wangi 21, unfolded his season target Speaking to Sports256’s Henry Musabe

I felt I needed a new challenge transferring from the Uganda Premier league to Rwanda and I must say we are trying to cope up here with my coallegue Sulaiman Majanjalo, the fans are so good here, they have liked us, so I can only pay them by scoring for them more goals, my target for now is winning the golden boot and and this will open up my other chances.

Wangi only spent six months at Sc Villa and scored seven goals in all competitions before leaving for Sunrise.

Wangi raised through Vipers’ ranks at St Mary’s Secondary Kitende and spent three seasons at St Mary’s Stadium from 2016 to 2018 before joining SC Villa for more playing time.

A win against Rayon sports elevated them to 7th place with seven points collected in five games.

Sunrise defeated Espoir 4-1 in the second last league game, in which Wangi bagged a brace and assisted.

They lost 1-0 to Kiyovu, drew 0-0 with current log leaders Mukura and lost the opening fixture to Police 3-2.

Sunrise play winless and second bottom placed Musanze FC in their next game on Wednesday away from home targeting their third win of the season.

He, however, didn’t make his intentions of making cut to the Cranes a secret speaking to Sports256 in an exclusive interview.

I believe if I continue working hard, peforming well and keep my scoring boots on and win the top Scorers’ boot, it will help me achieve my national team target
