Five Local Based players Make Cranes Squad For AFCON 2021 Qualifiers

TOTAL AFCON 2021 QUALIFIERS (2019 AFCON Qualifiers – Group B):

Wednesday, 13th November 2019:

  • Burkina Faso Vs Uganda Cranes – Ouagadougou

Sunday, 17th November 2019:

  • Uganda Cranes Vs Malawi Flames – Mandela National Stadium, Namboole

 

Three KCCA FC players; Allan Jolly Okello, Nicholas Kasozi, goalkeeper Charles Lukwago and Vipers duo of Fahad Bayo and Halid Lwaliwa are the only local based players considered by Uganda Cranes Head Coach Jonathan McKinstry.

Salim Jamal has been dropped and replaced by Charles Lukwago as the only major change made in the squad that played in the AFCON finals in Egypt.

The named 25 man squad will face Burkina Faso away from home and welcome Malawi on 13th November and 17th November 2019 respectively.

The squad was announced by McKinstry when addressing the media during the weekly press conference at FUFA House on Wednesday, 30th October 2019.

The team will depart for Burkina Faso (via a chartered flight aboard Uganda Airlines

Abdallah Mubiru and Charles Livingstone Mbabazi that have been in charge of the CHAN Squad have been retained as the first and second assistants respectively.

Fred Kajoba is maintained as goalkeeping coach, Ayub Balyejusa is the equipment manager and Geofrey Massa as the team coordinator.

The early bird tickets for the home game on 17th November 2019 will go to the market on 2nd November 2019 and the full training programme will be confirmed according to Fufa.co.ug
