KCCA Football Club central defender Samuel Nemeyimana Kato, Uganda Hippos/ Wakiso Giants sensation midfielder Hassan Senyonjo and URA FC winger Joachim Ojera have been handed their first national team calls by Uganda Cranes Head Coach Johnathan McKinstry.
The former U-17 and U-20 player currently in Algiers with KCCA FC for a CAF Confederation angangement, was among the six players promoted from the ranks alongside; Musa Ramadhan, Joseph Kafumbe, Hassan Jurua,Sadat Anaku and magical Joseph Kizza Bukenya who is yet to make an an appearance after surgery.
The young center half Kato, was reportedly linked with choosing to play for the Rwanda national team over Uganda by the time of this call.
The Uganda U-20 starlet Senyonjo is another new face considered for his outstanding display in the Uganda Premier league along side club mate Vianne Ssekajugo.
URA’s pacy winger has also been handed a first Cranes call to prove his worth.
The 21 man squad named by McKinstry will play the North East select side in a Regional Tour Match to be played in Katakwi on Saturday 9th November 2019.
The Squad of local based players will see Uganda Cranes take on North Eastern Select. It will be the third time the Uganda Cranes Regional tour heads to the region.
The tour is in line with the preparations for the upcoming Uganda Cranes participation in the CHAN Finals and also taking the Uganda Cranes brand to the masses according to FUFA official website.
The team will train on Thursday morning at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo before setting off for Katakwi the following day in the Morning.
