Shortly after being named new Uganda Womens’ U-20 national team head coach, Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi has named a provisional 30 man squad for the 2022 FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifiers due this month.
Kiyingi replaced Oliver Mbekeka earning promotion from the U17 Women’s National Team according to changes made by the FUFA executive committee.
Kiyingi who has been successful with the national U-17 team, will be assisted by the former head coach Mbekeka as assistant coach.
Mubarak Kiberu who has served at the U17 Boys National Team (The Cubs) as goalkeeping coach has been appointed to serve in the same capacity on the U20 Women National Team according to FUFA.co.ug.
Stella Nankuba and Cissy Nakiguba will serve as the Team Doctor and Equipment Manager respectively.
The immediate task of the appointed technical team will be to guide the team through the 2020 FUFA World Cup qualifiers due.
Fauzia Najjemba, Lilian Mutuuzo, Kawempe’s Shamirah Nalugya, midfielder Kevin Nakacwa, Margaret Kunihira, Shakirah Nyinagahirwa, Eva Naggayi, Grace Aluka are some of the big names that Ugandans will look out for in Ayub’s squad for results.
Uganda will face Kenya with fixtures scheduled for 23rd -25th September 2021 (First leg) and 7th -9th October 2021 (Second Leg).
The provisional squad of 30 players has been named and the team will enter residential camp at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Tuesday, 7th September 2021.
