Ahead of the 2021/22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season, KCCA FC have announced goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan the new skipper.
The custodian who rejoined the ‘Kasasiro Boys’ in August, 2021 holds vast experience in betweenthe sticks. He has at Lugogo played in two other stints; in 2008/09 and 2015-2018.
He comes in as the successor to another goalkeeper, Charles Lukwago who held the armband till last season before he set off for a spell at Ethiopian powerhouse, St.George.
The development was made by head coach Morley Byekwaso at an opening of the season event held at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The tactician also confirmed that Ochan would be deputized by midfielder Gift Ali Abubakar, Denis Iguma and Julius Poloto.
“I have chosen Ochan Benjamin as Captain because of his experience as a person and one who knows this football club in and out,” he told the club website.
“He has got all the qualities to make a good captain and he is the right player to lead these players,” he noted.
“Ochan will be deputized by Gift Ali Abubakar, Denis Iguma and Julius Poloto. All these three are leaders and can be able to stand in as Captain on any day,” Byekwaso concluded.
KCCA endured an abysmal 2020/21 term where they finished fourth below eventual winners Express FC, URA FC and third placed Vipers SC.
They will kickstart this campaign on Sunday against Wakiso Giants at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in what promises a mouthwatering tie.
